A Maritime Journey Through Time – for Young Sailors and History Lovers Alike.
Bring your family and friends on an unforgettable cultural voyage in the coastal waters surrounding the island of Als, where history comes alive amid the fjord’s waves and the wake of ancient boats. You’ll travel in RIB boats on a maritime journey through 1,000 years of legends, myths, and ritual ship sacrifices — based on some of Denmark’s most spectacular ancient finds: the Hjortspring Boat, the Nydam Boat, and Sebbe Als.

Together, We Create the Cultural Expedition

Behind the Cultural Expedition are three dedicated expedition leaders: cultural communicator and concept developer Mia Lilliendahl Larsen, cultural historian and storyteller Casper Clemmensen, and sailing coordinator Martin Panum from Mai-Event. Together, they bring 1,000 years of maritime history to life in close collaboration with the three iconic ancient boat guilds: the Hjortspring Boat, the Nydam Boat, and the Viking ship Sebbe Als.

The cultural Expedition is made possible by strong local contributors and visionary supporters:
Sønderborg Vækstråd, Destination Sønderjylland, Sønderborg Kommune, Fabrikant Mads Clausen Fonden, LAG Sønderborg-Aabenraa and Erhverv & Grøn Vækst – Sønderborg Kommune, LINAK-Fonden, all of whom have provided valuable support and financial backing.
